The Role: Associate Editor, Ferrous Markets

The Team: Team analyzes trade and activity data and incorporates market knowledge in publishing price assessments used by clients. The team is collaborative and engages with the market through various mediums, including commentaries, news stories, blogs etc.

The Impact :   The successful candidate will be able to shape coverage of key metals products that underpin industrialization, and that are adapting to changing environmental regulations in one of the world’s most dynamic growth regions. As the industry evolves toward more sophisticated pricing mechanisms, you will also witness and be reporting at the frontline of these changes in the market.

What’s in for You:   The candidate will work in an organization with a people-oriented culture and that has a global reach in terms of its coverage and established price assessment methodology. Platts Metals Pricing team offers exposure to a range of markets like steel, its raw materials, and non-ferrous and battery metals.

Responsibilities: The Associate Editor or Editor will report on markets daily, generating price assessments, commentaries, and news stories, working as part of a team. The person will also actively engage with market participants within India and across the region on methodology and market developments. The role is offered as Associate Editor or Editor, depending on experience.

The candidate will translate information gathered from the market into concise written content, and through presentations and other digital media. They will establish and maintain source relationships and take ownership of Platts price reporting and methodology development, flagging changes to price trends and opportunities internally.

What we’re looking for :

  • Experience in metals or commodity markets in a reporting or analytical role

  • Desire to take ownership of a market in informational and relationship terms

  • Strong command of written and spoken English; proficiency of other Asian languages a plus

  • Energy, drive, and ambition to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail

  • Conscientious user of Excel
